Please post one universal truth with a brief explanation (one or two sentences) here.
A few helpful ideas for you:
1.) "We know the truth, not only by reason, but by the heart."
2.) "Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you and yourself test and judge to be true."
3.) "All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered--thus, the point becomes to discover them."
Wishing you well on the road of discovery.
Best,
AK

The highest achieving students are the students that are the best at cheating, memorizing other people's discoveries, and being slaves to their teachers. The bravest students are the students who are not afraid to take up the pen and express their ideas.
Radical steps forward in life cannot happen from a comfortable place. People will tell you it's not worth the risk and will remind you of all that there is to lose. Sometimes, the only way forward is to slip away in the middle of the night without telling anyone where you're headed.
Pain is essential to understanding the underground, and it is the only way to discover our inner truths. We must suffer in order to be fully active participants in our lives.
When a man wanders because he has given up getting anywhere he doest not travel. When a man holds up a strange map in front of himSELF, and takes his first hesitating step forward, he has traveled further than some men ever will.
Keep these coming--they are humbling, they are illuminating...they are Truth.
Truth: consciousness has the power either to trap or to liberate.
Becoming aware of the walls that confine you and the inevitable problems that burden you does nothing to free your mind if you merely wallow in your predicament. Acceptance of your present state and a resolution to overcome what you can when you can is step in the direction of reclaiming what is yours; of finding personal freedom.
The day you stop questioning is the day you submit to indoctrination. It is not that you should be close-minded to others ideas, but open-minded enough to not only listen but question whether those ideas are true to you.
Without deviation progress is not possible. Society teaches us to follow the track of those before us, for they did it right. If everyone follows in the footsteps of the one in front of them we cannot move forward. It takes that person to take first bold step outside the comfort zone of society to prove whether that track is right or not.
True heroes are not superheroes. The superhero saves the day because it is his job, his duty. The true hero acknowledges that the only day he can truly save is his own, and in doing so, he enlightens the rest of us.
Wallowing in a shallow mediocrity is one thing, shackled helplessly by (and to) those less intelligent and less aware who “I” try so hard to free myself from; it is another thing to find the courage to free myself from this cowardice that restrains me. But what must be sacrificed for this freedom is the need to emerge from below the surface, to expose my whole being, and the only question is: will I free myself only to retreat back to my underground where I may see, speak, and love only myself?
Who am I kidding? This does not answer any questions...
It takes more courage to give up power than it does to use it. People only use power in order to forward their image in the eyes of people that they respect. Questioning the status quo to the point where you might be seen as a fool takes real courage because in order to be courageous, you must be willing to look like a fool.
to rebel is to exist.
In our world, we are nothing and we don't have a voice until we make ourselves heard. The easy way is certainly to say nothing. That person doesn't exist; also he/she can never be quoted. It is the person who stands up tall, who exists fully and follows their own truth and not anyone else's.
We talked about in class how if we as humans dwell and think too much about the world and the actions we pursue, we will suffer from disease. It will infect one and fester upon you until it simply eats away at you. I agree with this whole heartedly. We think so much that we lose our identity and we get lost in the judgements of other and what is perceived to be "normal." I think if we all just stopped relying on how others perceive us and what is thought to be "right" or "wrong" we might actually discover some truth in this world.
The interconnectedness of life is universal. Emerson called it the "over-soul" or "common heart", the Hindus named in the Paramatman. This interconnectedness if life permeates cultures around the world. We are not a solitary species; we need interaction with others to keep us sane.
Why are the lights on?
Because they don't have to be. I think that we have to create our own light.
Besides, there is no light underground unless we put it there.
That's what I think.
(I meant to say: Why aren't the lights on?)
It's about becoming comfortable with being comfortable with discomfort. When I experience a discomfort enthusiastically it becomes comfortable. Repeat and discomfort becomes comfortable. Then we can remove remove the smoke screen from Truth which is created by making a weakness appear as a strength (elbow joggling, tyranny of the masses...) When called a fool remember the Bedouin saying; "The dogs may bark but the caravan passes on."
